Notice of Opposition to Inaccurate and Unfounded Territorial Claims by Heiltsuk Nation in Nuxalk Nation, Kitasoo Xai'xais Nation and Wuikinuxv Nation Territories

Hereditary and Elected Chiefs from the Nuxalk Nation, Kitasoo Xai'xais Nation and Wuikinuxv Nation have come together to express their strong concerns regarding unfounded and inaccurate territorial claims made by the Heiltsuk Nation to the long-standing, mutually recognized core territories of Nuxalk Nation, Kitasoo Xai'xais Nation and Wuikinuxv Nation. These concerns have been set out in a joint letter to Heiltsuk Nation Hereditary Leadership, elected Council and Membership. The Nuxalk Nation, Kitasoo Xai'xais Nation and Wuikinuxv Nation trust that the Heiltsuk Nation will promptly meet with our leadership and remedy these broad territorial claims in a collaborative manner that aligns with our Indigenous protocols and customs.
